Accurate descriptions of structure and reactions are critical for modeling nucleosynthesis processes that are responsible for the formation of elements in stellar and explosive astrophysical environments. The integration of ab initio approaches into this modeling oAers a single, self-consistent platform for the prediction of these crucial quantities. I present several state-of-the-art calculations utilizing both low-energy and high-energy nuclear theory in the context of nucleosynthesis to uncover new insights into the origin of the elements. I conclude that ab initio approaches oAer a path forward for resolving long-standing questions in nuclear astrophysics.
